April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She began the guitar and piano lessons in the 7th grade, which ignited her interest. The first song she wrote was called Different. She wrote it when she was 12 years old. At the age of 14 April was a big devotee of her time creating and playing with songs. After that, she started taking trips to write with her father in NY as well as LA. April started to include other subjects in Take My Hand for her friends who were dealing with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicide. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with a growing number of followers. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, and is also an expert in the field of lifestyle. Lockhart was never born with a left-hand, which is what makes her who she is. However, that's not the full story. The profile of Lockhart on Twitter does not shy away from the fact that she is disabled, but neither does it focus on it. What message is it sending? The message? That we each contain multitudes, that our identities and physical bodies aren't what they seem. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her physical disability. She doesn't want to become a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. It doesn't impact my daily life. I carry on the same way as I always do and have found different ways of adapting. It's a big part of my life, and it's imperative to discuss the subject. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon but Lockhart truly inspires me for this aspect. Yet, she confesses to going through periods that made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance as well as wearing clothes with arms. Nowadays, she dresses what she's comfortable in and post photos in those outfits to social media, she is proud of herself. One of the keys to self-love for her is the fact that it's not a goal. It's a journey, I'm not sure you'll ever reach your destination. I believe that it's really important to surround yourself with those who can see and know your true heart.
